This project address the problem of loading from typhoons and survivability in soft soils of offshore wind turbines in China and is structured in five work groups (WG).
Modelling the evolution of waves in shallow waters under energy input. A variety of methods will be used including Boussinsq, non-linear Schrodinger; fully non-linear and laboratory experiments.
Looking at loads from breaking and non-breaking waves on monopiles. Both experimental and numerical methods will be used. Focus will go on the frequency content of the loads.
Analysis of wind extreme during typhoon events.
Bringing together WG1-3 together with the latest developments in geotechnical engineering to improve design of offshore wind turbines.
